Rebecca Gransby, a teenager from Nottingham, has filed a personal injury compensation claim against the doctors who misdiagnosed her when she was a toddler.

Rebecca was just two years old when she developed chickenpox and her mother took her to see a local doctor. After the doctor sent her home, she had a convulsive fit, leaving her brain damaged. She was rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where yet again her condition was improperly diagnosed. She developed septicaemia, causing permanent spinal damage.

Rebecca has now been awarded compensation for her injuries, as the doctors involved have admitted partial liability and negligence. The exact figure she has received has not been disclosed.

Slip, trip and fall compensation claims are becoming increasingly common these days, with many people receiving cash payouts after sustaining an injury through no fault of their own.

However, one street in Liverpool has seen more than its fair share of trips and falls. Seven personal injury claims in recent months have been lodged against the council over West Derby Road, with victims receiving a range of cash amounts from £2,000 to 14,225.

The Mail Onlien recently covered this story, and their reporter alleges that the street appears normal and that the ‘victims’ are fraudsters trying to make quick cash from the council.

The good news is that, whether the Liverpool claims were sincere or not, the coalition government is starting to take new measures to clamp down on Britain’s ‘compensation culture’ so that those who truly deserve it will be financially supported, rather than the fraudsters.

According to online newspaper This Is Lancashire, Bolton Council was forced to pay out nearly £600,000 in compensation in 2009 after numerous people tripped and fell on uneven pavements.
These incidents led to drawn-out personal injury claim cases, where the claimants were awarded compensation according to the severity of their injuries or emotional suffering.

Despite this huge figure, Bolton Council says it actually managed to reduce the amount paid out in compensation compared to 2008, when they coughed up around £800,000. What’s more, Bolton is lower on the list for personal injury payouts than many other local authorities in Manchester.

Just a thought: would it not be cheaper to just fix the pavements to stop innocent pedestrians getting injured? The potholes on Manchester roads could do with some work too!

I was reading a leaflet….Yes I did not just look at the pictures this time. Well anyway this leaflet, it was about compensation to be had for injury or loss.

They go on about stuff that can be approached for such as falling from a ladder or tripping at work, you know general stuff that you expect to happen.

But then….

There is a mention about how much you will get if your child is knocked down by a car. I mean seriously who puts that in there. I am sure the last thing that a family grieving who have lost there child is compensation.

But if you are interested then the going rate is £1,000,000. I know that no one can put the price on the loss of a son or daughter but this company have.

In the previous post I mention about a attack. Well following on from this I am disgusted at the NHS. I mean really get your act together.

This victim has been in agony all week with bad heads and other smaller issues and it is all because they missed a facture that was easily spotted, which should have been picked up when this first happened.

I wonder about people who fall through the cracks like this. A easy diagnosis blundered up for speed.

A very close family member of mind was recently punched in the face. It was a brutal attach by a guy on a girl. It is not right what happened and it is not big or clever.

But….

When I was at uni I used to watch a lot of day time TV especially the compensation adverts. They were on more than any program that was interesting. I always wondered who would speak to them but now I know.

The victim has stated that they will seek compensation and this I think they will get. We went to two places both the hospital and the police station and they both stated that we should apply for compensation.

This is unreal no wonder the state that we are in as a country.

When Barrack Obama applied to become president, (apparently a CV and Cover letter is all that is needed) he announced that one of the biggest bills that he would introduce was to give free health care to the poorer of people in America.

Well this bill has been more of a nuisance since the last bill who was President. This bill has the potential to ruin Obama and his office if this is not either pushed through soon or scrapped. Obama could end up only spending 1 term in the office as his fans are starting to get itchy trigger fingers due to the slow push of the bill.

Just going to have to watch this space to see what will happen.

Well here we are, it has en a while but I am back and going to talk about anything injury related.

I don’t know what to go on about lately, as there has not been too much news over the time I have been away.

I suppose there is the bill that Barrack Obama is trying to get put through to allow poor people in the united states of America free health care as it is in England.

I could go on about the Jacko death saga as well. I think it will be a entertaining time either way.

I have been busy over the last couple of weeks so unfortunately I have been unable to keep this blog uptodate but I am going to try and do it now.

The first article I will do about why free text arent good for your health sometimes.

This came from a friend of a friend years ago but I have decided to out it now becuase I really think it is funny. Someone was about to set off driving when they decided to send a text message to a friend. Once this text message had been completed they put the phone on the dashboard and set about there way.

They recieved a text message which they tried to read by picking up. They put there hand through the steering wheel and pick up the phone, at the same point in time they came to a corner which they should of moved there hand out of the steering wheel but instead they decided to drive straight into a wall as they did not think to either break or take there hand out of the wheel and turn the steering wheel.

In the end the car was wrote of which is even funnier.
